Come listen to our highly regarded Jazz Combo and the newly formed Chamber Jazz Ensemble as they present traditional and contemporary jazz standards and stretch out as improvisers.
The MacEwan Jazz Combo, under the direction of Kent Sangster, showcases a variety of material arranged by the students while the MacEwan Chamber Jazz ensemble, directed by Dave Laing, features jazz works for six horns plus rhythm section playing a mix of compositions and arrangements from jazz greats across the decades.

New to this season’s line-up is the pairing of the Guitar Band with the highly regarded A Cappella Ensemble. This year’s ensemble features five treble voices. Come and enjoy the unique vocal harmonies and arrangements that will be presented by this vocal ensemble. Fans of the guitar will have a lot to savour when this group featuring five guitarists and rhythm section takes the stage. A diverse repertoire of jazz, funk, and samba arrangements will showcase the skills of these talented MacEwan students.

Study Jazz, Rock and R&B in our 4-Day Combo Intensive!
Explore jazz, rock, and R&B in a fun, hands-on environment at one of Edmonton's top music programs! Whether you sing or play an instrument, this workshop is your chance to learn from pro musicians and jam with other students your age.
Ages: 13 to 18
Instruments Accepted: Voice, Guitar, Keys/Piano, Bass, Drums

Full refund if canceled up to two weeks before the workshop.
50% refund for cancellations made 7 to 14 days prior to the workshop.
No refunds for cancellations within one week of the workshop or once the workshop has begun.
